And while their absence will certainly be felt—at events, in our creative spaces, in the small routines that once held their presence—we understand. Life flows, and sometimes it leads us onward. From an editor’s desk, it’s never easy to write these words. How do you summarise laughter shared over late-night chats, artwork that inspired us, or the simple comfort of someone’s consistent kindness? You don’t, really. You just honour it. Quietly, sincerely.

How do you feel about these changes?

Change, as we all know, is one of those things that’s both a little bittersweet and entirely inevitable—it’s the natural rhythm of any community, really. Some of our beloved members have decided to embark on new adventures, follow different paths, and take the next step in their journeys. While it’s true that we’ll miss their unique spark and warm presence in our day-to-day lives, we also understand that growth often comes with the need for change. It's only natural, isn't it?But here’s the thing: although they may be stepping away from the Society in one form, they’re still very much a part of the fabric of who we are. The things they’ve left behind is something that will linger with us. Whether it’s their creativity that’s inspired us all, the kindness they showed in quiet moments, or the joyful energy they brought to every event—these are the things that remain, woven into the heart of this place.And while we might no longer see their faces at every gathering, we’ll always carry their heart and soul with us. It’s like when a good cup of tea leaves a lingering warmth long after it’s been finished. So, while goodbyes can be tough (and let’s face it, who doesn’t feel a little teary-eyed at times?), it’s comforting to know that they’re not really gone—they’re simply becoming part of our story, tucked into the very heart of the Society.

Do you believe will keep the 9th Society alive?

The heart of the 9th Society has always been its people—and that, thankfully, has never wavered. Even as we say our goodbyes to some of our dear members, new faces appear, bringing with them fresh ideas, new perspectives, and that undeniable sense of connection that keeps the pulse of our Society strong.It’s this ever-evolving community that allows us to continue thriving. We are shaped by the bonds we form, the creativity we nurture, and the simple joy of being together in the spaces we’ve made our own. Every gathering, every shared moment, adds to the rich tapestry that defines the Society.The heart of the 9th Society may changed and grow, but it remains rooted in the same things that first brought us together: kindness, shared stories, and that laughter that seems to echo long after the conversation has ended. I’d say, trust in the community. The 9th Society has never been about any one individual—it’s about the shared values, the collective efforts, and the unique contributions of all who choose to be a part of it. Whether you’ve been with us from the very beginning or are just stepping through the door for the first time, you are now part of something truly special. And that, my friends, is a bond that will never fade or gone forever.We are a community that thrives on connection, on support, and on the understanding that together, we create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Honestly, there’s so much to look forward to in the days ahead. We have a wonderful mix of events lined up—new collaborations, fresh creative initiatives, and countless opportunities for our members to showcase their talents and passions. It’s always exciting to see how each person brings something unique to the table, making the Society a richer, more dynamic place for us all.But what excites me most, truly, is the way the 9th Society continues to grow, adapt, and evolve. It’s a beautiful thing to witness—a community that constantly reinvents itself while holding firm to the values that brought us together in the first place. The town has seen the emergence of a tight-knit community, and led by someone calling themselves mayor. The story of this society begins on the day when the mayor, in his wisdom, calls every townspeople and sends an invitation to join their society. The townspeople were accepting the invitation and slowly but surely, every artists, writers, musicians, showing their talents and collaborated on new projects. And the once-quiet streets are now filled with the hustle and bustle of neighbours smiles and pleasant conversation. To get more insight into 9th Society, we have a brief interview with the town’s beloved mayor:

What inspired you to create 9th Society?

Ah, the 9th Society… it began, quite simply, as a soft thought—no louder than a whisper. A quiet feeling that lingered over the years, gently growing into a dream. A dream of bringing our little community just a touch closer, of weaving a thread between us, something warm and lasting.I’ve always held a deep fondness for this charming town of ours, and for the people who fill it with life (yes, even Mr Thompson, who seems to believe Sunday mornings were made for lawnmowers). But over time, I started to feel a small, persistent tug at my heart. A sense that something was missing—not loudly, but just enough to notice.It wasn’t the weather (though a bit less drizzle would certainly be welcome), nor the food (although an extra bakery wouldn’t go amiss). No, it was something more subtle. A sense of togetherness, perhaps—a shared rhythm, a quiet reminder that we’re all walking through this life side by side, each with our own story but not alone.That’s when the idea of the 9th Society gently took root.And, if I’m completely honest, part of the inspiration came from a rather unexpected but lovely source—fromis_9’s “My Little Society.” There was something about it that captured the spirit I’d been trying to put into words. A feeling of warmth, of whimsy, of finding joy in the smallest of things. It reminded me that community isn’t always built with grand gestures, but often with shared moments, kind words, and knowing smiles.So, the 9th Society is not just a name—it’s a quiet celebration. A celebration for us. Of our town, our stories, our shared cups of tea, and the gentle nods exchanged in passing. It’s a small but meaningful reminder that, in our beautifully ordinary, occasionally peculiar ways, we all belong to something greater.And really, what more could one ask for?

Can you tell us about members of 9th Society?

The members of the 9th Society are every bit as talented and vibrant as the wonderful community they represent. Musicians are part of our society. We’re proud to include musicians among us, of course, but that’s just the beginning. Take Lee Saerom, for instance—a deeply talented visual artist whose murals have quite literally painted love into the corners of our town. Song Hayoung, a classically trained violinist whose music has the power to turn even the greyest day into something beautiful. She’s basically the soundtrack of our souls. Park Jiwon, our resident wordsmith, writes stories and poetry that tug at the heartstrings and tickle the imagination. Whether it’s a poem on the notice board or a short story in the local zine, her words linger long after you've finished reading. Roh Jisun, creates pottery that feels as though it’s been shaped with love itself. Her hands bring clay to life, and her work is admired both within our society and at local markets, where it always draws quiet awe.Lee Seoyeon our beloved baker, has a way of turning flour and sugar into something truly magical. Her cakes have a sort of gentle joy baked into them—and those lucky enough to taste one know exactly what I mean. Lee Chaeyoung, a passionate environmentalist whose love for the earth shines through in everything she does. From community clean-ups to thoughtful upcycling projects, she’s a quiet force for good and green living. We’re also lucky to have Lee Nagyung an advocate for wellness and mental health. As a certified yoga instructor. She helps us breathe a little deeper and move through life with just a bit more kindness toward ourselves. And last but certainly not least, Baek Jiheon, our brilliant young entrepreneur who recently opened a cosy local café that’s quickly become the heart of our community—a place where ideas are shared, friendships are brewed, and the coffee is always spot on.

What activities 9th Society organised so far?

We’ve enjoyed the most delightful little gatherings in the 9th Society—each one a quiet celebration of community, creativity, and the simple joy of being together. One of our recent favourites was a cosy movie night in the town square. As evening settled in, we tucked ourselves beneath a blanket of stars, wrapped in scarves and soft throws, with warm popcorn in hand and a shared sense of something special in the air. The films, of course, were a treat—but it was the gentle laughter, the whispered comments, and the shared smiles that made the night feel truly magical.Now and then, we like to try something a touch more whimsical. Our Temporary Swapping Days, for instance, have become a source of gentle amusement and insight. On these days, members get the chance to “swap characters” with one another—just for a little while. It’s a playful way to walk in someone else’s shoes, see the world from a different point of view, and usually discover just how many cups of tea someone else actually drinks in a day.And then, there are birthdays. Oh, how we adore birthdays here. In the 9th Society, they’re not just about balloons and cake (though we do love a good cake). They’re about honouring the people who bring light to our little community—their kindness, their laughter, the moments they’ve shared with us. We decorate our havens with fairy lights, bunting, and all manner of charming touches. There’s music, of course, and memories too—stories shared, wishes whispered, and the sort of warmth that lingers long after the day is done.These are just a few of the things we’ve lovingly put together. The truth is, there’s always something quietly wonderful unfolding within the 9th Society. Because when you bring together a group of thoughtful, imaginative, and ever-so-slightly mischievous souls, well… you never quite know what delightful surprises are just around the corner.
